Relationships

I think one of the most important aspects of your high school career is developing those relationships with everyone in the school, including your underclassmen. What makes a championship team or a group too succeed on a project is to have full cooperation with each other and everyone contributing in a good relationship with each other. When I was a freshman, I always felt important when I had some seniors that were my friends because all freshman are scared of some upperclassmen. I see kids that are underclassmen get treated as they are, which is not better than the seniors which shouldn't be right. It's important that the seniors always give the freshman or sophmores respects in hope that they will do the same for you. Maybe, their isn't a real solution but theirs always plenty of room for improvement, as I am becoming a senior next year, I will try my hardest too help out the underclassmen, too show positive leadership by being a role model

Mr. Ritchie

I would have to agree that Mr. Ritchie is one of the most respected people in this school and possibly the community of Williamsburg. I have had many experiences with him as he was a teacher in 6th grade and also now that he is the athletic director of all sports. I also play football with him and get to see all of his great leadership qualities that he has inquired. The great thing about him is that he doesn't just focus on football with his leadership, he carries that on with people outside of sports. I hope to see him have a long career here coaching and teaching at Williamsburg as he is a very great man.

Thanksgiving

Last Thursday all of America celebrated the holiday of Thanksgiving. To me this is one of my favorites because you celebrate with all of your family, friends, and everyone else. I love giving thanks to everyone who has helped me out in this great life and for my family who has given me an opportunity to live, with the food that they put on my table. Also my grandparents from Arizona came up to see me and I only see them once a year, but haven't seen them for two years until now. It was really sad too see them leave on Tuesday but I know that they are doing good and got safely back to their home. Everyone should give thanks for whatever they have on this great holiday of joy.

Aaron Thomas

Aaron Thomas came to our school last Thursday for a speech. He talked with us about his family, including Ed Thomas, and also talked about many important issues/things in life. His three most important things in life to him is faith, family, and football. He talked about how is dad was a very great man and he never wanted to dissapoint him. Ed Thomas struggled through his teen years to try and not be like his dad and set a good example for the future to succeed. Aaron made a very good point of never forgetting where you came from what school you are from and that you remember those memories there no matter where you go to in life. This was showed by the four former NFL players that came back for the help and also to go to Ed's funeral. I believe that his speech was very inspiring to me, he showed me that I should always try hard in school or in whatever all the time because it will help you out tons in life.

Attitude towards self-improvement

In class we took the time to complete a survey for students, teachers, and coaches throughout Williamsburg High School. Our survey was called attitude towards self-improvement. Some things that we asked about is mostly questions on what are your problems with getting stuff done and what is motivating them to help their students/students motivation to improve themselves. I believe that some students just don't care to get better, they think that they will fail if they try, or that they have better concerns/problems going on int their lives to get stuff done. If everyone in the school tryed to their hardest to improve everyone could do great and we need to start getting people to believe in that.

Making Things First

It is a great challenge to figure out what to put first in life and people must make changes to fit their life. Things I need to work on to make first would be first of all my homework, I must realize that to make it far good education is a key assessment. Second would have to be my family, maybe by getting a job to help my family, and also provide for myself. Another thing is I need to work towards my improvement towards being a better athlete and also maintain the my physical shape. If you don't put the effort to change things that are important to you then you must figure out away because that can make a difference in your lifestyle.

Prioritizing

Prioritizing in life is of key importance in way of life. When you prioritize right it can lead too the goals you would like to accomplish and it helps you get a good jump on those. Homework is something I need to prioritize better, since football is done I can try to get better at doing so, because I really had no energy to do anything, which everyone experiences it (procrastination). Also people prioritize friends, you usually put the first friend that asks you to hang out first but what if someone elses asks you to do something better what do you do? Well I have this problem on many occassions every week people ask me to do something on one day and not just one multiple, this can be a struggle for me but I try to do what is right and do the thing with the person that asked me first. Of course people get mad when you reject hanging out with them but you just have to go through it. This is why prioritizing is a key component in living your life.

Guest Speaker

On class last friday we talked with our guest speaker on many different topics. The topic that came up in my mind is the idea that media always attacks the wrongdoings of many celebrities and sports stars. Why does media do this? I believe they do it to show that everyone makes mistakes and to show that maybe the person you love may have hidden bad morals. Media also uses ads in commercials, on movies, in magazines, and on anything you can think of their are ads almost everywhere. Why do they you use ads you ask? Well the reason is to persuade people to buy things that look cool and they use that celebritity or sports all-star to get you to buy that stuff. What happens when many of those celebrities gets in trouble, well their sponsors drop, which means the ad with them in it drops. So don't believe what the media or other people tell you because you never know when it is false information.

What Can I Become?

Many people don't know what they may be in the years too come, but if they find something they must have that end goal and find the "will" to overcome all the obstacles to get too that success. I believe you can become anything you want if you put your mind too it and get that end goal which can be a very important step. From their is where you create all the goals that will help you on your way too success in life and give you that drive too become great. Some things that you need to develop is good habits, the ones that will help you on your path, but sure you may encounter those bad habits but that "will" to change if strong enough can overcome those bad habits. Another very important thing that will get you to where you need too be is good character, you can see many people have become what they are through good character and that hardworking attitude with the will to never give up on what you desire to become.

Bad Leadership

Their is many good leaders out there but their can also be some very bad leaders. Some qualities of a bad leader may be that they are arrogant, cocky, and only care about themselves in life. Another is leaders that don't contribute too trying too be a leader or offer no intention of learning. Ones that are insecure or one that is too afraid too take a stand and be a leader. Other qualities could be when you don't want too admit too doing wrong or being or just not wanting too communicate with anyone. I believe that one of the most important leadership qualities too have would be the idea of being able too communicate with your peers, whether it be your workplace, or some others that you admire

Values of a Leader

Great leaders first off know what they value in their life. They know ethical behavior and also leaders have many different ways they use their values and ethics by the way they act every single day. One of the most inmportant values is too have trust of people and within your company or workplace. What leadership values are most important too you? People have many different values and values are very important too have in a day to day basis.

Pursuit of Happyness

In leadership we are watching the movie Pursuit of Happyness with the actor Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith. In this movie I believe Will Smith is a leader and shows so much determination too help out his family. He struggles in life but he keeps trying after he fails. Most people would give up if they were in his shoes but he has the determination too fight for what he wants. This is a great movie for this class too watch and evaluate the leadership qualities in life.

Speech

Last Friday we had too do a persuasive speech on an issue in the world that influences leadership. I did my topic  on the issue of obesity. Some thing I believe I should do too make it better is be more prepared before I give the speech. Also, I would need too give a better attention grabber, maybe a statistic, fact, or quotes, something that will grab the audience so I they can focus on my topic more. I must deliver my topic with lots of energy because you picked the topic for a purpose, so I should show enthusiasm. I need too improve on showing more movement because it was my first time I was using the podium as more of a security for myself, for future purposes I need too get out and walk around more while expressing my topic. Last thing I need too do is give more eye contact too everyone in the audience grab the attention of them and show them what I am expressing in my speech

Leadership In the Dark

Leadership in the dark means that a person must find their leadership qualities within themself and they all might be hidden by the world around. You take the time too do this when you go through life and find out what you are or what you want too be in life. Leaders aren't born leaders but they are born with the abilities that you must take the time and initiative too discover them. People may see some of the abilities but their are certain ones hidden within you, that people don't believe they are but if they believe they can gain those abilities

Guest Speaker Mr. Jepson

Last Thursday Mr. Jepson came into too be a guest speaker for our class. Mr. Jepson was one of my most inspiring teachers and I had him in 6th grade. He is a great leader in my mind because he took care of every student that he had and got them too trust him. He took a very good job in our high school, which needed a very good leadership role, because he wasn't the most experienced guy around. He proved too everyone that he can be trusted by not only students but the teachers and the staff of Williamsburg High School. He shared the concept of 90% of what happens to you is up too you and 10% is out of your hands for the day. I believe this is very true because when I get mad for the day for example if I yell at someone or I let a mistake for the day get into my head the day is ruined. The 10% is mostly on my fate for the day and everybody has this 10% for example you can't help if your car breaks down but what effects you after that is up too you.

What influences how I see things?

Everybody  could have something that influences them in a different way. Something that influences me is my love for music and the singers/bands that I listen too. I have listened to music everyday for a long time and will continue too. Why it influences me is because of the fact many songs have a meaning too them, whether it be about love, life, or different things that come up in a persons life. Different influences can last a short period or they could last a lifetime. Popular people in the world could have a big influence on someone but they aren't the only people that can. Many influences could be just someone who helps you out with anything you may need and them doing it without reward. The thing that influences me is when I see someone popular or anybody that will be willing too help out anybody, for example charities for a cancer cause. Many people have different influences and different ways of looking at influences

Bad Leaders and Negativity

Their can be many bad leaders out there the people who could be great but don't show any effort or positive attitude. This can bring down many different teams or any other groups that might have these people in it. If you are around negativity, like for example saying you can't do this or you won't win that game, then you will soon believe the same exact thing. If you are involved in this it is your job too make a change, by telling them that they are being bad leaders, try too motivate the team or group with positive action, or you can just try too take over as the team leader. Negativity is always a part of peoples life but its up too you too believe in what you can accomplish and try too take action in doing so.

Blog #5

In leadership class we had a guest speaker, the assistant principal, Mr. Hoffman. I thought it was very interesting about how he used too play for the Hawkeyes and the career path he chose too get too where he is at now. He talked about two different leadership concepts of character and competence. I figured out that my character is that I respect others, I'm respected by others, I love too help people out when they need it no matter who they are, and I can be a very hard worker when a time comes up. My competence is I have excelled in school on many different subjects, because I tend too have good grades. From this I learned that this would help out in my dream of being a physical therapist or someone who helps people with injuries. To do so I would need too become more socially interactive with people and learn too talk too everyone.

Personality File

In class we did a personality file on this paper by answering questions. From the outcome you could either be color red, blue, white, and yellow which made your personality based on motive, needs, and wants. In the end I had an even distribute between the colors blue, white, and yellow, but the most was on white. White means your motive is a peacemaker, your a person who doesn't hate, and gets along with everyone. I'm very good morally and I feel good inside, which makes me a very good loving person. I am allowed my own space, very respected, and have very high tolerance for people. My characteristics is kindness, independence, and contentment. I didn't know how accurate this test would be but I found it too be almost right on the dot. All of these characteristics fit my personality. I learned that my personality helps me too be a leader that can get along with anyone and I could be an effective communicator in whatever I want too do in my life.

Dreams

Everyone in the world has a dream and something they  want too become but you have too figure that out later on. This biggest question is how too you get this dream too become reality and what does it take.

 1. First it take a vision, actually dreaming it, maybe a purpose for this dream

 2. One of the most important steps is you must believe you can achieve.

 3.You must make goals for yourself (small goals) that is going too help you achieve this dream 

 

 3.Must take some failures in life too become successful but you must not give up

 

 4. Some type of recovery fix the problems and failures too become successful

 5. After you become successful you reach for new possibilities and help others reach their goals and dreams

If you follow these steps it will give you a good idea of what it takes too accomplish dreams and goals. Anyone can make there dreams become a reality but the hardest thing too do believe that you can do it.

Can a Leader Become a Hero?

In English class we have been doing things about what a hero is and reading about some important heroes whether myths or real people today. I had too find two articles about heroes on the news and found one on a guy who made homes for disabled war veterans and on who worked on making new electricity possibilities for Africa. I thought about can a leader become a hero and what does it take for a leader too become a hero. First off my definition of a hero was someone who inspires people in many ways and can make an effective change in the world. I believe anyone can become a hero but what they have too go through first is being an effective leader and they must need important leadership qualities. I believe a hero can be anyone in the world and doesn't mean you have too be a super-hero.

What leadership is too me

My definition of a leader is the ability too take a charge and make a change of the good. Too me I believe leadership is something that is picked up along in life and not something you are born with. Leaders can be anyone in the world and can become very good ones if they have something too work for in life. I believe leaders are found too help people, motivate people, make changes, and inspire the lives of others for a good cause in what they believe in. People have many different styles of leadership and some find it easier being a follower but you live life too find out what you want too do with that because their is a leader in everyone.
